Dueling Darlings – September

It’s the 15th again!! Time for another DDD challenge and for once this year, I am ON TIME!

This month’s kit was sent to me from Suzy and the theme was sunflowers. What a great fall theme! I love sunflowers.

She sent a great selection of papers too! Check out my card:

But wait….not only am I on time with ONE card, but I managed to get TWO cards created (yes, I’ll give you a moment to pick yourself up from your chair). Boy, it felt good to get ahead! Here is card #2:

This second card was using the Cheerful Sketches September sketch.

Thanks for swinging by and I’ll see you next month for the newest DDD kit!

Dueling Darlings – July and August

It’s the 15th again!! Time for another DDD challenge.

I am behind on my kids – so, today I have for your both July and August.

First, the July kit was sent by Terry S and was a bee theme. I loved the paper and embellishment collection! So much fun to play with. In the end, I chose to use this CC Designs image for my creation. Credit to one of the sketch challenges out there for their recent sketch – I’ve been at this for a few weeks, so I’ve lost track of who!

And, I am barely on time with my August kit! But, here it is.

This fun image and sentiment was chosen by Tami this month. Great papers to play with (can you see I used the leftovers on my Crafter’s Cafe project too??).

I am determined to get my schedule straight and get back on track with my blog posts! Let’s see how that goes. 🙂

Dueling Darlings – May & June 2018

Eh, oops! Behind again. I think I need to stop apologizing for it, as I’m sure my readers are like “blah, blah…will be on time next time”….yeah right.

Anyway, Paola and I were the May team and despite being the one to SEND the kids, I somehow managed to not even get my own created. But, she’s done now! And, I had so much trouble selecting WHICH image to work with, that I just said “what the heck, use both”. Here are my two cards from our Tweet Spring kit.

Both images are from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. I should mention that I have been sketch surfing again, so while I am never quite sure where these sketches are from, chance are if it looks like yours it is….thanks for the inspiration!

And, this months’ kit came a day before deadline from Carol. The theme was Everything Is Coming Up Roses. I decided to go mostly black and white, with the exception of my card base and the image itself.

And, the papers in the kit were beautiful, so I couldn’t help but play again! I debated using another rose image but I actually JUST received my order from the soon-to-be-closed Verve stamps, so I decided to play along with my new stamp set instead.

And, that finally catches me up on the Dueling Darlings (until at least July 15th, right). Thanks for all the inspiration, teammates!

Dueling Darlings – April 2018

It’s the 15th again…okay, yesterday. But, I’m close!

It’s time for my Dueling Darlings post and Team Diva was sent by Barb this month. The chosen theme she and her partner in craft came up with is April Showers (love!!) and she sent a Whipper Snapper Design, Umbrella and Slicker for us to play with.

Here’s my card:

This is a 5×7 card. Bigger than I usually make, but I need to send some photos to someone and wanted a larger card!

Thanks for a great kit, Barb! I’ll see you next month.

Dueling Darlings – March 2018

It’s the 15th again, and as an added bonus this month, I’m on time for the Dueling Darlings post!

Team Diva’s kit was sent this month by Judy. The theme was Birthdays. Judy sent some ADORABLE images and die cuts….so cute that I had to make three cards with this months kit!

Here are my creations:

Such colorful papers! This card uses the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch (#262).

And this one was the Viva la Verve sketch for March 2018.

So much fun!! Thanks for the great kit, Judy.

Dueling Darlings February 2018

Oh my gosh, I am finally catching up on my posts!! So happy to be back.

February 15th was the date the Dueling Darlings post their cards and I was tardy again. But, I sat down and my desk this weekend and studied the package Kelly sent for team Divas and got busy! Her theme was “Things I Love” and Kelly loves to travel, so here we go!

I used one of my new Karen Burniston dies for this one. It’s the Spinner Square Pop-up card. The ferris wheel is actually behind an acetate window, inside the card. When you open the card up….

The little bear guards pop out from behind the black piece! It’s quite clever and I wish I had a video of it for you!

I have actually ALREADY received my March package from Judy, so there are NO excuses to be late. Her March kit is colorful and exciting, so I hope to be back here soon with my creation.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dueling Darlings

So, have you been wondering where my Divas posts for 2018 have been? Yeah, me too. Let me tell you, the first two months of this year have been a challenge! Work is so busy, but I am ploughing my way through and sneaking a few minutes here and there to craft.

The biggest problem with the January 15th post is that it arrived late. So, since I wans’t going to make the “deadline’ anyway, it kinda sat for a few weeks (oops). I finally realized my tardiness when February’s kit showed up (also one day late to the post deadline), making my problem even worse.

Now, I have finally sat down to create with January’s kit. The theme was “New Year” and the kit had these GORGEOUS papers with gold accents. Loved them!

Here is my creation:

Now, the January kit had an interesting challenge. The kit included the calendar seen here, but we were to incorporate our own stamps and images to make a “sort of” New Year theme, however that was interpreted. I decided to make my little calendar with those snowflakes and add a bundled up Greeting Farm image.

January is always cold here in Edmonton and this year it has been REALLY, really cold. Not as much snow as we usually get, but these long stretches of freezing cold weather (I have to RUN to Starbucks for my morning coffee instead of my usual saunter!)

Sketch on this one came from Crazy4 Challenges, thought the base of their sketch may be tough to see under my image embellishments!

Hope you like it! Thanks for a great kit, Laura Jean.
