Ahhhh! It feels good to be at my craft desk once again.
I’m hard at work on my New Year’s resolutions. I’ve got my list of favorite challenges ready to go and I’m working on getting inspired. Not only that, but one of the challenges I completed tonight used one of those dreaded card kits accumulating in my craft room. Yay me!
The first challenge I decided to do was the SplitCoast Stampers Featured Stamper challenge. I love this one and I do not play enough! SCS picks a member each week and you are basically challenged to be inspired by the creations in their gallery, changing at least two things about their project.
I found this project in the gallery and loved the sunny colors, as well as that flower peeking above the ribbon. Now, florals aren’t always my thing, so I couldn’t find a satisfactory stamp that I liked. Rain related stamps ARE my thing, so when I came across my Prickley Pear Umbrella set, I KNEW it was what I wanted to create with. And, here’s the final product:
You can see I kept the same color combination, though changing the layer orders a bit. I also added a small, light pop of color with the blue. I had fully intended to do the ribbon centered, as in the sample, but as I was putting it together I realized that I wanted it slight off centre instead.
The next challenge I did was the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (#245). I love this challenge! But, another one that I don’t get around to nearly as often as I’d like. I chose to use a card kit for this one, using images I had colored at my retreat back in September and then never assembled. I was trying to figure out something different to do with the centre squares. What do you think?
Thanks so much for visiting today! I’ll be back soon.
