What Women Want Swap – Card 2

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a swap I joined on SCS called “What Women Want”. The theme caught my eye. Cards can be about exercise, hormones, shoes, shopping, stamping, friendships, chocolate, housework, hobbies, coffee, etc….every thing women want!

This is the card for my second swap spot. I went with my Riley and Company stamp and a sentiment from one of my favorite Amy R sets. These two stamps are just perfect together!
Can’t wait to see what comes back!

Mystery Image Swap!

I’m sure working my way through my “to-do” list this month. I’ve got so much to do and I really want to get it cleaned off so that I can move on to other things….not sure what those things are yet, but I’ll figure it out!

It took me into May to finish up my April Mystery Image Swap card, so I’m doing better this month to have May’s done just after the middle of the month.

Susanne sent this month’s image and although I LOVE it, it’s an awfully big image, which I always struggle with….I could have put it on the page straight, I guess, but that just seemed to boring, so I decided it needed to go crooked.

I love this background paper and I thought it went perfectly with the card.

Can’t wait to find out what June’s image is!!

Mystery Image Swap – April

My Mystery Image Swap is a group on SCS that takes turns sending out an image every month and we make card with it.

April was Tina’s month and she sent us this image called Ralph Fishing by Rubbernecker stamps. I was a bit scared of this image at first because it’s so darn big! But, I got it onto a square card and I like the way it turned out!

I decided to make it a retirement card, since Ralph looks like he doesn’t have to worry about a daily job. I just got the background paper in a recent swap and I love how it turned out here!

Can’t wait to see what everyone else did!

What Women Want Swap

I joined a card swap on SCS. I don’t do card swaps very often, because I never know what to do with the cards I receive. But this theme kinda caught my eye and the host is someone I know from my Crafty Gals blog group…so, I gave it a shot.

The theme is “What Women Want”. The cards could be about exercise, hormones, shoes, shopping, stamping, friendships, chocolate, housework, hobbies, coffee, etc….very open ended.

I decided to take two spots, which means two different sets of cards. This is the first card I made. I like this humorous sentiment and what could be more perfect for this swap than a sentiment that says “I’m fabulous!!”.
Not quite sure what I’m doing for the second set of cards yet, but I’ll figure that out in the next day or so.

Use It Tuesday Challenge #54: Flowers for Mom

Use It Tuesday time!! Are you excited? Because I AM!!

This week, we’re celebrating two things: 1) May flowers and 2) Mothers, with a challenge we’re calling “Flowers for Mom”. You can see from our DT inspiration that we want you to make a project with ONE OR BOTH of these elements.

I have a couple of Mother’s Day cards already to go from last year, so I chose to focus on the flowers portion of our challenge this week. These fun and glittery flower stickers have been in my stash for a long while. It was a pretty big package and while I’ve used them on and off over the years, now I’m ready to finish the package and move on to new things. I also used paper and ribbon from a card kit that had been partially used.

Now, show us your “Flowers for Mom”. Remember, you don’t have to use both elements, but at least one must be there. As well, don’t forget to tell us what part of your beautiful creation has come from your hoarded supplies.

Projects can be linked up to the Use It Tuesday website by noon (PST) on Friday May 3, 2013. No blog? No problem! Just use the keyword USE054 when uploading your project to an online gallery and leave us a direct link so that we can find your creation.

**Don’t forget, we ask that you please mention you’re playing along with us and tell us all about project supplies that come from your hoarded stash.**

Have fun!

Unidentified Image Swap – April 2013

Two months have passed since the last round of the Unidentified Image Swap and today is the day I post my Round 7 card.

Carol is our host this this time and she picked this cute little dancing couple. Unfortunately, I forget where they’re from!

I though the stamp had a retro feel to it and found a paper pack in my room that I thought suited the feel. I decided to go with a rather neutral card and then pop it up with some bright red highlights.

Challenge #53: Sticky Situation

I tried to find some “sticky” lyrics to lead of my post today…do you know how many songs there are with “stuck on you” in them? Lionel Ritchie, Elvis Presley, Sugarland (yeah okay, that’s stuck like GLUE. Close enough).

But back to the challenge. This week at Use It Tuesday, we’re getting sticky! Sticky Situation is our challenge this week, which means hauling out those stickers, rub-ons, embossing powder….anything that sticks.

I do not use stickers very often. But, I can’t seem to stay away from the really cute ones. Rub-ons are the same, although those I tend to acquire, not buy. (Where do they come from?) I used one of each for you here today.

The button flowers are a set of stickers. Loved these cute flowers! I was searching for something for this card and finally decided…I MUST use these! Best thing? I used the WHOLE package up (yay for me). The last two adorn the inside of my card. As for the rub-on, that’s my sentiment. Perfect match!

Next we shall talk about that woodgrain embossing folder I bought many moons ago and opened, just for this challenge!

You’re turn to get sticky. Once you’re done, link up your Sticky Situation: Stickers, Rub-ons, Embossing project to the Use It Tuesday website by noon (PST) on Friday April 19, 2013. No blog? No problem! Just use the keyword USE053 when uploading your project to an online gallery and leave us a direct link so that we can find your creation.

Have fun!

Inspiration Challenge

This is my first time doing the Inspiration Challenge over at SCS. In this inspiration challenge, they provided the name of an online retailer to find something that inspires you for your card.

I took a quick look through the site and found this:

114094-1_1Weird choice, I know. You were probably expecting something colorful. But, what I saw in this was two things…1, it was masculine and I wanted to make a masculine birthday card. 2, I thought it would work great as a layout sketch.

Here is the card I came up with:

I liked the texture of the book cover, so I found an embossed panel in kraft to use. I used my square punch to make some not quite square panels for the front. The rounded corners on the cover make an appearance and then I finished it off with a quick bow where the author’s name is located.

This is actually my second attempt. My first attempt was not good! The colors weren’t right at all and I just didn’t feel like I could save the thing. :(

A Riley Challenge!

Oh my goodness, it’s been so long since I’ve done a Riley & Company challenge. I’ve missed my little moose!

The challenge this week is to take inspiration from a children’s book in celebration of International Children’s Book Day. I’m pretty up to speed on my children’s books, since we read to Claire most nights and go to the library a couple times a month (at least).

One of her favorite books right now is called “Monkey and Me” by Emily Gravett. It’s a book about a little girl with her stuffed monkey that visit all these animals…penguins (or as Claire says, “pengoos”), bats, elephants, kangaroos. I thought it the perfect time to pull out Sock Monkey Riley.

The black dots on the background are from a smooch spritz that has now been banished from my craft room for “glopping” on my background. Luckily, I was able to hide the spots I didn’t like.

Viva la Verve, March 2013 #2

Here’s the last two Viva la Verve sketches for March. I’m glad I got that last card finished in time.

Week three was a sketch and a inspiration picture, which is a new thing for the Verve challenges this year. This month’s inspiration picture was a green cupcake picture with pretty sprinkles. I used my new Viva la Verve sets for this card.

And the last card of the month was a fun sketch too. My favorite part of this card is that I used my new bow die for the first time. It’s so cute!!
